OpenSuse 12.1 "No system tray detected on this system"

I’ve upgraded my existing OpenSuse 11.4 to 12.1 on my laptop. When I log in as a “local user”, everything is working.

I can also log in as an LDAP user and in that case the /home directory redirects to an NFS share. By doing so, I was able to log in on every laptop or desktop and have my settings and files available through a “roaming profile”. Because this is not working when my laptop is not connected to the network, I’ve also created a “local user” for when I’m on the road.

When logging in as an LDAP user and loading the /home directory from the NFS share, I get an error “No system tray detected on this system. Unable to start, exiting.”.

Do you have an idea how I can solve this? Other computers are not yet upgraded to 12.1 so I also have to be able to log in using another computer (OpenSuse 11.4).
