openSUSE 12.1 NFS Server stopped working - client mount stalls

Had my openSUSE 12.1 NFS Server stopped working this morning, can’t figure out way… Looking for help, please.

Server seems to be running:

ssh root@192.168.70.4 /etc/init.d/nfsserver status
Password:
redirecting to systemctl
nfsserver.service - LSB: Start the kernel based NFS daemon
Loaded: loaded (/etc/init.d/nfsserver)
Active: active (running) since Mon, 23 Jan 2012 06:43:43 -0500; 22min ago
Process: 1976 ExecStart=/etc/init.d/nfsserver start (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS)
CGroup: name=systemd:/system/nfsserver.service
├ 2054 /usr/sbin/rpc.idmapd
├ 2172 /usr/sbin/rpc.statd --no-notify
└ 2227 /usr/sbin/rpc.mountd

I have valid shared resources
ssh root@192.168.70.4 exportfs
Password:
/suse 192.168.70.0/255.255.255.0
/rh62 192.168.70.0/255.255.255.0
/exports 192.168.70.0/255.255.255.0
/media/OS 192.168.70.0/255.255.255.0

Mount commands times out:
sudo mount -v 192.168.70.4:/media/OS /mnt
mount: no type was given - I’ll assume nfs because of the colon
mount.nfs: timeout set for Mon Jan 23 07:12:43 2012
mount.nfs: trying text-based options ‘vers=4,addr=192.168.70.4,clientaddr=192.168.70.222
mount.nfs: Connection timed out’

Not seeing anything interesting in the /var/log/messages
Worked yesterday
Firewall is off.

Any suggestions appreciated. Thank you.

Did you find any resolution to this problem? I am seeing the same thing after upgrading to 12.1.

I’ve had the same thing occur. My NFS was working wonderfully and it has now stopped working. I can see the folders, but Dolphin tells me the folders are empty.

I went into partition manager and it suggested the firewall was causing problems. I had the firewall on previously and the appropriate port was open. I stopped it anyway. The problem persists.

I have absolutely no idea why this has stopped working. Can anyone shed any light?

I’m using OpenSUSE 12.1, all the latest updates applied. Could this be the cause of my problems?

Thanks in advance

I can help with command line, not with dolphin.

Hi all

I have the same problem and wondered if anyone has solved this. I’m running two Suse servers. The server sharing directories via NFS is running Suse 7.1 and the server that is mounting those shares is running Suse 12.1. This setup has been working perfectly until last week when we had a power outage. My UPS kicked in allowing me to shut the servers down cleanly but when power was restored, my 12.1 server can no longer mount the 7.1 shares.

Any ideas???

(1) Start your own thread for your own problem. You will just confuse
things if you try to hijack this thread.

(2) Upgrade the 7.1 to some current release

(3) post all the config files etc
