Opensuse 12.1 Kmix Stream Capture Channel

What happened to the stream capture feature in KMix for OpenSuse 12.1? The feature seems to have been disabled. Without it Audacity i can’t use Audacity. Is there a way to get this function up and running in KMix in OpenSuse 12.1 or is there a good alternative to KMix?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me with this issue.

So, when using KDE, it is suggested you install pavucontrol (PulseAudio Volume Control) from YaST / Software / Software Management. See if it does what you want or you can also return KMIX to using Alsa by adding in the following command to your ~/.bashrc file.

export KMIX_PULSEAUDIO_DISABLE=1

Add the line, save and restart KDE to see the results. Just remove the line if you decide you don’t want it to look like it used to.

Thank You,

do I need to uninstall also when I install page.

There is no need to uninstall ALSA or PulseAudio. Pulse is here to stay, so we need to learn to live with it.

You can disable Pulse with:

sudo setup-pulseaudio --disable

and enable it with:

sudo setup-pulseaudio --enable

You can use what ever works, but be careful of uninstalling default applications from openSUSE.

Thank You,
