I am having a problem running rsync on openSUSE 12.1 Gnome 64 bit.
In 12.1 when I type :-
I get :-
rsync: getaddrinfo: anorien.csc.warwick.ac.uk 873:Name or service not known
rsync error: error in socket IO (code 10) at clientserver.c(122) [receiver=3.0.9]
This works in 11.3 as I get a listing of directories.
Is it me or is there a problem?

well…hmmmmm…you have to wait for another 12.1 early adopter to
confirm the problem with 12.1 (and then log your bug–if
appropriate)…but i post to confirm that your command line of
works fine on my default installed 11.4!
for proof, see
denverd@linux-os114:~> rsync rsync://anorien.csc.warwick.ac.uk/
CentOS CentOS mirror, 4h
packman Packman, 1h
opensuse-distribution Official openSUSE mirror, 4h
opensuse-misc various opensuse repositories (inc. install), mostly
internal Warwick usage
Yes, as I stated, it works fine in 11.3 as well…
If someone else can confirm it I will gladly log it into Bugzilla.
It looks to me as if it is complaining about a DNS problem (cannot resolve “anorien.csc.warwick.ac.uk” to an IP address).
Works fine on openSUSE 12.1 32bit Gnome 3. Looks like it can’t find
your DNS. Are there entries in /etc/resolv.conf.
