Opensuse 11 VMWare Network Configuration error

Hi

I am new to Opensuse.

I have been learning installing Oracle software using VMware Server. I am using this link

ORACLE - DBA Tips Corner

But the link above uses Red Hat. But I am using Opensuse 11 on both Virtual Machines.

I am facing a problem. I cannot connect using ssh to another Virtual machine from the first virtual machine.

If I ping to that machine I get the message ,

" Host unreachable ".

Firewall is disabled for both machines.

What might be the problem ?

I have followed all instructions from that link except the following,

Since this is Opensuse 11 and not red hat linux, I can’t figure out where such screens are available.

As for vmware, have a look at my notes:

That’s only about installing and running vmware on openSUSE 11.0.
Your network problems are of another nature if you have managed to get
the vm:s running.

The machine you connect to must have sshd running. Is it?

This means that there’s no connection.
You have not configured your network settings correctly.
NAT or bridge? This is configured in the vmware server console for the
client.

Then the clients: Fixed IP or automatic with DHCP?
This is configured in the running client: YaST > Network settings

Do you have an idea how they should be or are you just trying randomly?

Can you browse the Internet on the clients?

That’s good to start with.

Networking.

You might want to configure the LAN your vm:s are in first.
Have a look here:
