I have a problem in opensuse 11. I installed suse and i set the ip adress and dns manualy. Now the connection is green but i still can browse and i don’t have a ping. I think that somewhere is still searching for dhcp. It is my 1st time i’m using linux and i was hopeing not to have any problems. i searched yast for every mention on dhcp and i set all manualy but still the connection doesn’t work.

Have you rebooted? For me, NetworkManager wouldn’t pick up manual changes dynamically. For a configuration that is more or less permanent, you can also set YaST->Network Settings->Global Options->Traditional Method with ifup. That will take effect when you exit YaST.
Sorry you’re having trouble on your first use of Linux. This is not something I’ve seen before, even on the last version of OpenSUSE.
