OpenSuse 11 Installation not detects DVD

Hi, I’ve bought an Asus B50A and wanted to install OpenSuse 11 on it. I insert the dvd, boot and installation goes on, suddenly it says I can not find DVD and put it in. but the DVD is in and It was installing from it!
What should I do?

  • niesohrima,

if it is an ATA DVD drive, make sure the jumpers are set correctly.

Uwe

In the Boot Options below on the DVD menu, type this:

insmod=intel_agp

If this doesn’t work, try:

edd=off

Failing that, try:

nolapic noapic acpi=off

Note: You are going to have a problem getting the gui working. Your machine’s graphics device is very new. The Intel driver in 11.0 does not support it at all. The new driver is in 11.1 along with other software required for it to work - but, there is a bug somewhere. The bug is being worked on, but as of a few days ago, had not been resolved - and when it is, it’s unknown how quickly the fix will get into 11.1. The best you can hope for at the moment is to get the vesa driver working; if you can, probably the best resolution you can get is 1280x1024 or 1024x768. Search the forum on “x4500” and find the thread that starts with “Toshiba”; it will give you the details. You may want to wait a while longer before installing.
