OpenSUSE 11 freeze->pata_jmicron stops boot

Hi, I’m trying to install OS 11 but during the boot the system randomly freeze. I had some similar trouble on 10.2 but I solve it putting “acpi=off irqpoll acpi_irq_balance” as booting options. If I do the same on OS 11 the system hags on loading the pata_jmicron module. Ideas?

There is a known problem when the motherboard has ICH8 and the JMicron and a particular BIOS configuration. Here is one discussion from last year I found about this, there are others, just google it. The irqpoll kernel option you used in 10.2 was one of the solutions, but again, it depends on the specific hardware, setup, and configuration. Even how the dvd is configured.
