opensuse 11 does not recognise audio CDs

Hi All,

Have opensuse 11 + KDE 4.1.1 installed on my machine. I does not seem to recognise audio CDs - none of the kde applications (kde4-kscd, kde4-amarok and kde3-amarok) recognise that there is a CD in the drive.

It is not a hardware issue because data CDs are recognised without any problem; also VLC can detect & play audio CDs.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

p.s. I’m using the 64 bit version of openSUSE 11. Can that be a problem?

The problem is KDE4.1… run KDE3 or gnome haven’t this problem…The KDE4.1 doesn’t mount an audioCD…

Why?

Richard

Any update on this issue? I have KDE 4.1 and I can’t see the cd or dvd drive. Kscd does see the audio cd, as does k3b, but Dolphin, sysinfo, amarok and Konqueror cannot see them. I sometimes get an error screen that indicates I don’t have permission to view an audio cd or that it is in use by another app, which isn’t true.

Any ideas of how to fix this?

I have kind of the same problem.
When I boot my PC with a CD or DVD in it into OpenSuse it mounts it without problem and I can access it, but after a while (listening to an audio CD or watching a DVD) my PC just hangs.
When I boot without a CD or DVD in my drive and I try to put one in when I’m in openSuse, most of the time he doesn’t see it at all.
With other istributrions like Ubuntu I never had this problem.

Any ideas?
