So by following the madwifi instructions (and blacklist suggestion from lornix) I was able to get from a “not configured” status in the Yast Network Settings to a “not connected” which is where I now stand, highly encouraged that I’m almost there. I’ve been trying different things in the Network Settings but haven’t stumbled upon the right combination. I connect thru a WEP wireless hub and am more used to the Ubuntu/Gnome network interface which shows all connections available and one can select the right one and enter the WEP encryption key. Here I have to put the name of the network and key without the comfort of knowing that the wifi card is able to see anything, let alone my hub.
Can someone link to a trouble shoot option for this end of the wireless game as I think the hardware is finally configured.
could be trouble with your wpa_supplicant, no matter that you want to use wep… I dont know why, but if you followed my instructions over there, it should work.
However, I do not recommend Madwifi from repository, but built from latest snapshot. No other could make my card work, and I have same as you.
okay, followed the instructions on this thread: Madwifi-kmp issues With 11.0 - openSUSE Forums
did the reboot and now I’m back with my wireless showing as “not configured” in Yast Network Settings Overview tab. I think I just took a step backward. Time to retrace my steps to getting this back to where I thought I was close.
Still looking for some assistance in getting things working with my WEP once I get the hardware back to “not connected”
Attempted to rebuild, followed previously successful steps and no change. Getting a bit frustrated but really want to beat this and get it functional. Next try will be to remove everything and start fresh, but that will wait for another day. Part of this is only having a couple of hours a day to put into this effort and those hours are starting to be of questionable value.
its possible modify?
modify button is on?
