OpenSuse 11 and OpenLDAP 2.4 replication

Hello,

I have been using OpenLDAP 2.4 with OpenSuse 11 without any issues but I now want to configure replication and can’t see how it’s done :(. The OpenLDAP 2.4 admin guide refers to the slapd.conf configuration file but this is not used by YaST. Any ideas please?

Thanks,
Ian

You’d probably have to edit /etc/openldap/slapd.conf by hand.

Right, but that’s just a probably and the slapd.conf clearly states:

**# Note: The OpenLDAP configuration has been created by YaST. YaST does not

use /etc/openldap/slapd.conf to store the OpenLDAP configuration anymore.

YaST uses OpenLDAP’s dynamic configuration database (back-config) to

store the LDAP server’s configuration.**

So I was wondering if there is a way to setup replication in this back-config as YaST doesn’t seem to have options for it. Therefore my question is targetted at those who have actually got this setup but thanks for your time anyway :\

I’m not surprised that YaST doesn’t support this. Generally anything complex has to be done manually.

I am trying to do this myself. Editing the files by hand is not the problem, the problem is that the documentation does not match the implementation. If the documentation does not get edited to match the release, then users have to rely on the GUI’s.
