We allways want to know how you “updated”. As you yourself mention this, it means that you are also aware of the fact that your problem can have a relation with the leftover(s) of an earlier install. Thus, was it a fresh install (keeping everything in your /home? Or otherwise?
Originally I had opensuse 11.3, then I updated from dvd to 11.4 without reformatting hard disk, but leaving my /home folder untouched.
With 11.3 everything was fine.
Sorry that I persist, but I want to make it clear. You did NOT reformat (that is recreate a new fs) on your / partition. That means that you used the update (or is it called upgrade) option in the beginning of the install prcocess. Correct?
When this is the case, did you anything to configure that printer anew (using YaST or CUPS), or did it just “work” and apperently thus uses the “old” configuration from 11.3?
I ask, because there are not only a miriad ways to go from 11.3 to 11.4, but you also seem to mix up terms like “hard disk”, “disk”, “partition”, “file system”, “folder/directory”. I know these words are used in popular speak in a more or less undefined way, but sometimes they must be used in their proper meaning.

Yes

It just “works” with the old configuration from 11.3

Sorry for that, i’m not used with tecnical vocabulary… but I hope you understand now.
No need to appoligize for the lack of knowledge with technical vocubulary. We know it might be there, but it is often not obvious from the first moment and then people might jump to conclusions
You might try to configure your printer anew using YaST and/or CUPS. In the hope that it replaces the older configuration.
I’ve deleted the printer from my printers list and then I’ve re-installed it, but the problem haven’t been solved, so I solved (I hope) changing the driver form hpcups to hpjis on the printer configuration module in yast. Now it works fine!
Thanks for the help, I hope that the problem has definitely fixed!
Well, you can not work on a solution without defining your problem. I often see that defining what the real problem is takes more effort then offering a solution. lol!
