For some reason on OpenSUSE 11.4, GNOME 3 is reverting to its fallback mode right on the Live CD. I haven’t installed OpenSUSE [yet] but have looked at it as a viable option since Ubuntu isn’t officially supporting GNOME 3 yet. They’re peddling their ridiculous Unity interface with their latest release, Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal.
The graphics used in my laptop is an ATI Radeon 3100. I’ve read that there have been some problems with GNOME 3 and ATI/AMD, but GNOME 3 runs perfectly from the Fedora 15 Live CD, it doesn’t go into fallback mode. Because of this, I’m thinking it may be an issue with the driver that OpenSUSE is using and was wondering if there was a different driver (I believe the driver in question is xorg-x11-driver-video-radeonhd correct?) I could use that would fix this problem.
Or is the problem due to something else entirely?
Thanks,
Phil
