openSUSE 11.4 fails to install properly

My system configuration is:
Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2Ghz, 2Gb of RAM, Nvidia Geforce 9400 GT, Tv tuner Winfast PVR2000 XP Expert (autodetected according to the installer)

I never had a problem while installing openSUSE untill openSUSE 11.4.

All goes well while installing and configuring the network card, sound and even display(under nouveau). The problem is at the tv tuner. After i adjust some settings to it and pres OK so that the installer can save the settings all goes wrong. The installer freezes and i have to reboot the pc.

After repeating the configuration procedure and skiping this step, configuring the tv tuner using Yast this time, leads to the same thing: desktop freezes and i had to reboot because nothing is reponding anymore.

Does anyone has this issues as me? (tv tuner owners can you confirm this?)

Tested under virtual box, the installation and configuration of openSUSE 11.4 goes well…
Weird … :frowning:

Hi,

Instead of using nouveau, did you try first installing the proprietary nvidia driver and second configuring your TV card ?

Well i did try, using the hard way since the newest driver from nvidia has issues with kde 4.6(using this wiki article SDB:NVIDIA the hard way - openSUSE ), and the installer says that he can find the kernel headers, weird is that i have selected the entire “kernel section” when selecting the packages to install.
Lets say i could do that, but what about the main issue here: the system hangs when loading the yast module that configures my tv card, and not to forget that it fails even at “1st system configuration”…Even if i skip the step during the first system configuration it still fails using yast.
