Last night I kept the computer on since some downloads was in progress. I kept the screen locked and the monitor power off (turned off using the power button inbuilt in the monitor). Not many applications were running, it was only Opera browser as I remember.
This morning, it didn’t wake up when I turned on the monitor. Shouldn’t it show up the login screen? I saw only a black screen with white mouse pointer init.
I tried clicking, moving the mouse and tried to type the password. Anything didn’t work. Finally I did CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE twice and got back to the login screen. But this is not the correct solution I know. Anyone have an idea?
maybe it is a power saving setting…have a look (yours may differ
some from mine, each desktop environment is a little different):
Main Menu > Configure Desktop (maybe Personal Settings) > Hardware >
Power Management, and check what power profile assignment you have set
for your configuration (i guess AC power plugged in) on the Settings &
Profile tab…that may be named “Performance” or “Powersave” or maybe
“Aggressive Powersave”
then switch to the “Power Profiles” page (here, that is on the left,
under “Global Settings”)
then select the Power Profile you have set (probably Powersave or
Aggressive Powersave and see what you have it set to do…
like if you have it set to Suspend, Sleep or Hibernate after 10, 100 or
1000 minutes it will do that!!
post again and let us know how you resolve it, or not…
