I’m using opensuse 11.3 with LXDE.
Cheese does not show the webcam stream.
I do have the required gstreamer installed.
I am successful in seeing the webcam video stream when using ‘luvcview’.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Could it be, you need libgstbasevideo ?
Does cheese give any output when started from a terminal window?

yes, I do have libgstbsaevideo installed on my system.
When I ran cheese in a console, there were no error messages.
When cheese started up it has an error message, “No device found”.
