openSuse 11.3: internet stopped working (was working fine)

Hi,
I installed OS 11.3; was working fine with Internet since yesterdad; I have been having problems with my ISP / DSL; the cablemodem went down several times yesterday. Yet, when it begun to work, the PC could not have access to internet any more, not even to the Thompson web config page (192.168.1.254).
I setup an old laptop with Win XP and it could access Internet; following some posts here, I deleted the eth0 configuration in Yast, and have it creted again… didn’t work.

Any help please?

The web config page - is that on your router, your DSL modem, or
something upstream from you?

What are the outputs of:

/sbin/ifconfig

ping 192.168.1.254

traceroute 192.168.1.254

Hi,

I digged into YaST and got into an option called “Network Services” (translated from Spanish “Servicios de Red”). All services were down… I started all and now the Internet connection works. How were they turned off? don’t know… The only special thing I was doing when it happened was working with a Virtual Box instance using Win XP… don’t know if that had something to do with the problem.

Here is the dump anyway for ifconfig, after the problem was solved:

Thank YOU! I have had the same problem and tried all kinds of commands via the command line and tried changing the network settings too. I too do not know what changed or what happened to disable all the Network Services. I also reset my network setting back to their original state and all was good. I can google and I can share some appreciation… Thank You!
