OpenSuse 11.3 - installation problem on HP DV6T-2000 Entertainment(ACPI?)

Hi all,

First, sorry for my bad english.:X

When I try to install OpenSuse 11.3 on my new laptop it starts loading the kernel and then it freezes. The laptop goes to hibernation mode to prevent overheating.
If I set NOACPI or ACPI=off, the installation starts fine.

Seaching on the web I found something about the BIOS on this HP series. I updated to the last BIOS version F.1C A, but the problem persists.

Is there anyone facing this problem??

And other question, if I choose to install with NOACPI/ACPI=off, what the implications? Is there some risk to my laptop?

There is no risk to that option. For most Toshiba laptops, for example, it’s a required option.
