OpenSUSE 11.3 fresh install issues during updating phase

cbowlby actually, to get 2.6.35.7 installed I had to drop to failsafe mode, set init 3 as the run level, and then I was able to compile and then install from the source. That sakc script made things easier, however I was able to get it done both with that script and manually.
Well at least I am happy to hear things are better and that the root of the issue may have been the older kernel. Updating to kernel 2.6.35 seems to be a fix for a lot of issues right now.

Thank You,

my system behaves the same (a completely new box). It hangs up during update when it gets to the kernel (adding kernel options in grub does not help). After reboot the rpmdb is screwed up so has to be initiallized and rebuild to enable update, however the update hangs up the second round too. Even Firefox is not working anymore.

Graphics related - maybe. I have ATI Firegl5700.
