I got through the install but when it went to boot it locked up such that I had to power cycle reset it. I even typed ctl-alt-F1 (pause) root (pause) <password> (pause) init 0. Nope. It’s more than just the graphics. Please tell me there will be a quick turnaround on 11.2a with a fix for nvidia graphics. Otherwise, SuSE is dead. At least for me. Sorry. Too much pain.
Have you tried a level3 boot direct from the grub boot menu?
Then set the vesa switch
``Have you tried a level3 boot direct from the grub boot menu?

No. I’d first have to know what you mean.
In the meantime, I tried Debian, but 18 months is too recent
for Debian stable and Debian unstable is unstable. Then I
tried Fedora. It actually installed in dual head mode.
But it paniced on shut down and on reboot. It’s DOA, too.
Now I’m back to openSuSE 11.1. Unfortunately, I cannot install
the nvidia driver successfully any more. The latest (190.xx)
correctly sees the card and lets me dual head it, but X falls
over every time now. So, instead of dual 1600x1050 I’ve got one
1200x1024. I am now so, so, so sorry I ever tried to upgrade.
I was just hoping I could have working audio and video, and now
I am completely hosed. Totally hosed. Just trashed. Rats.
I hate this. Two full days of complete frustration.
What I was meaning is:

But it sounds like you are back with 11.1 now, so I doubt you will need this now.
Yes, after three full days of travail, I’m back with 11.1 with both monitors. I followed the instructions here for installing the nvidia driver, but once I did that it was impossible to get the video working properly again. I did a re-install and followed nvidia.com’s directions. I’m up again. I’m back where I was on Friday. I’m done with 11.2.

Installed 11.2, added nVidia repo, installed drivers, copied my old xorg.conf over -> both displays working fine. (30" SM305+ & 24" T240).
