openSUSE 11.2 acpid as normal user

Hi,

I updated to opensuse 11.2 from 11.1 (more a complete reinstall).

I am happy with version 11.2 but there are some minor things, which do not work at all. One of them is the acpid.

I have a Lenovo T400 and created some additional keycommands in /usr/lib/acpid/thinkpad_handler. These working fine with version 11.1.

Now I have the problem, that they seam only to work for the root. As normal user these keys are not available. If I open a terminal as normal user and type:
su
/etc/init.d/acpid restart

it works. as soon as I type exit or close the terminal, the keys do not work anymore. What is the problem or what changed since version 11.1 that I have such problems.

Thank
Martin

knowing nothing about acpid, i popped open a terminal and typed:

man acpid

where i find [quote] “acpid is designed to notify user-space programs
of ACPI events. acpid should be started during the system boot, and
will run as a background process, by default.”

suggest you try it that way…[that is, when you close the terminal you
kill acpid, and it can’t work…]
