No, you’re incorrect. x86 is an architecture, and it is shorthand for
x86-32. x86-64 is simply the 64-bit version of the same architecture (vs.
IA64 which is completely different). x86-32 and x86-64 are likely what
you’re after, and whether you use AMD or Intel it does not matter (as long
as you’re in the x86-64 area and not using IA64 which is specific to
Itanium processors, though I seriously doubt you have one of those).
