Bought twin boxes at GoodWill for $6.50 each. MicronPC case with Asus P4PE v1.03 MB inside. Both have 2.4GHz P4, 1/2gb RAM, 40gb HDD on Pri IDE Mstr and CD-ROM on Slv. P4PE MB also has Promise FastTrak 376 RAID 0/1 embedded controller. Would like to add twin 1tb HDD for storage on SATA1 and SATA2 and configure as RAID1. So far the only thing I can find says the promise driver will allow access to the drives, but no RAID. Have seen note of one fella got it working under Kubuntu, but never could under Suse? This makes no sense. Nothing I’ve found is dated after 2006 so am hoping maybe something new out there.
Anyone got some hints how I can get this to work under Suse 11.1?

going back in time here but if SuSE sees both drives then configure with
softraid in SuSE.
Softraid actually can perform better than hardraid in some circumstances and
you also have the tools built in to the O.if you need theem.
Hate to say it bbut a while since I did it that way so have a look round at
some docs my mind is a little bit hazy ( situation normal )

Anyway, got cables et al. hook up drives from NAS200 to test. Entered BIOS to configure RAID1. All good says the FastTrak BIOS. Get to Suse Partitioner to checkit out. Suse 11.1 does not see the RAID1. Instead sees two partitions for each drive. Figure this is how FastTrak BIOS sets up the RAID1, but Suse does not see it as a RAID at all. This concludes the test that it’ll probably work, but will have to setup soft RAID1. Ok, will try the other box.
Am figuring I should not format new drives and let soft RAID set partition or is there an “How To” out there some place? Sorry, am used to my hardware RAID being seen as one drive by OS X and/or (eYuck) Windoze.
