openSUSE 11.1 supports NTP server

I found /etc/init.d/ntp in the system, and also I found the configuration file /etc/ntp.conf.

But it seems that just is a NTP clinet, not a NTP server.

If I want to setup my own NTP server, do I need to install a new software or just configure ntpd is OK, how to configure it?

Thanks.

  1. I see you’re new to the forums. Welcome.

  2. You have posted in the wrong forum.

  3. Please do not double post. One posting is enough.

  4. The ntp service is also a server. But if you have a firewall running, you have to allow other machines to connect to UDP port 123 on the server.
