I can not get Nvidia drivers installed on my opensuse 11.1 gnome 32bit. I have tried the 1-click, but it says something about access isues.
Cannot access installation media
(Medium 1).
Check whether the server is accessible.
URL: http://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/11.1
Download (curl) error for ‘http://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/11.1/repodata/repomd.xml ’:
Error code:
Error message: Couldn’t resolve host ‘download.nvidia.com ’
Then I tried the repo, but I get the same message. Next I tried to remove the cd repos from the Software Repo, but that didn’t help either.
Last, I tired installing my Nvidia Drivers through this script
NVIDIA-Linux-x86-180.22-pkg1.run
through the console before logging into OpenSUSE, but that gave me some error about my kernel.
Someone said it might be a DNS issues and that I should try making the default back to openSUSE within the Network Setting, but the only problem is my Network Manager does not allow changes to the network Setting in YaSt.
What now?
OpenSUSE 11.1 gnome 32bit
Nvidia 7700 GO
This website has the link to the install script for the Nvidia drivers.
NVIDIA 180.22 Linux Drivers Released | Ben Kevan’s Blog
Go to Yast repositories and disable the CD/DVD install media. There are boxes ‘enable’ and ‘refresh’ - uncheck them both.
OK
Now try

I deleted the cd/dvd repos within the Software Repos of YaSt. This shouldn’t cause any problems right? Instead of disabling them?
From my own experience after Opensuse is installed on your PC you won’t need the DVD as a repo. Yes delete that try what caf said & then post back.

I have the same problem using opensuse 11.1 with gnome.
I can connect to the ftp but get unknown GPu key. So i aborted adding the server to repository.
Earlier i installed opensuse 11.1 with kde and nvidia installed just fine.
So i installed opensuse 11.1 with gnome and could not add nvidia repository.
I tried this several times. Opensuse 11.1 with kde worked. Opensuse 11.1 with gnome did not work.
