Opensuse 11.1 low resolution

Hi everyone, I’m a first-time linux user, and so far I’m loving open suse, but ever since the install (during which I had to struggle with the infamous grub 18 for dual-boot with xp… shudder), I’ve had very low resolution, even though SaX2 is telling me my resolution is 1280800. The same resolution seems to look much better in XP, I’ve installed the ATI fglrx driver with the 1-click install (I have an ATI Mobility Radeon X600), but that didn’t seem to make any difference. When I try to change the resolution to a higher one (I don’t even know if my graphics card supports it, but SaX2 lets me do it) like 1440900 or smth, it still stays at 1280800. I looked in xorg.conf and it had a line that said “Preferred resolution: 1440*900” or something like that, so I’m not sure that manually changing xorg.conf like I’ve read would do what I need. When I get home I’ll try to post screenshots of my desktop and my xorg.conf settings, so you guys can tell me if the resolution’s supposed to look like what it does now.

By the way, I’m using KDE 3.5, and my laptop model is HP nx8220.

Please help!

Hey guys, as promised, here is the image of my desktop+konqueror

Can anybody confirm if this resolution looks right for 1280800? (I actually set it to 1600900), which SaX2 recognizes, but doesn’t actually do anything… lol. Also, the text seems… blurry?

I’ll also put my xorg.conf below:

Is there anything that looks out of place for either the resolution or the xorg? Please help a lost penguin!
