OpenSUSE 11.1 Kde 4 live cd and text mode installation

Hello!

I have cd with OpenSUSE KDE 4 Live Cd installation. And i have question. Is there anyway to run instalation from text mode? Any commands etc? becouse i need for some reason install it from text mode.

Thanks for any help

IIRC you have to boot to a live session first before you can install. I don’t recall seeing a text mode live session.

If you want to install in text mode, you’ll have to use the DVD or the NET install CD.

Actually you can.
Run Yast
sudo /sbin/yast2

Then go to the “Miscellaneous” last menu in 11.1 and select “Live Installer”.

Hi,

When you first boot the live-cd and get to GRUB (The green screen with options to boot the live-cd, failsafe, from hard drive, etc.), type the number 3, to drop to run-level 3, and press enter.

Then at the login prompt log in as root (it won’t require a password)

Then type

/sbin/yast2 live-installer

Then follow it as if it were the regular GUI installer.

Take Care,

Ian
