openSuSE 11.1 hungs while rebooting

I installed 11.1 and it hungs while rebooting.
I tried Failsafe with level 3 but nothing happend - it stopped with the last mess. “SMP …not deleted”.
What should i do?

Thanks

What’s the full text of this: “SMP …not deleted”

Thanks, swerdna!
Now i’ve got something “else”:
“Unpacking initramfs…”
with the same result - the system hangs!

Can you tell us about your computer. Specifications!?

Thanks, caf4926!
Laptop Fujitsu-Siemens; 1,7mhz,1Gb,170GB;XPSP3+
SuSE 10.3(deleted today) and now 11.1 :frowning:
When I’ve tried to reinstall 11.1 I’ve got
only Installer’s screen and all of Isntallation, Repair…
give first “Loading Linux Kern…” and than only black monitor!

So are we going to try and boot the install you have just done or re-install?

sure!:)…( it need 10 char)

What? Explain that in English

1.“So are we going to try” ->Sure!
2. “it need 10 char” ->your program doesn’t underst. only “sure!”. It demands 10 characters to enter.

Sure; we are going to try what?

  1. Fix what you have
  2. Re-install

Thanks.
What can I do to get working 11.1 in my case?

Boot from the install dvd
At the menu choose Media Check
Wait for it to run the check it takes a while…

report the result.

All options from the menu gave the same result - the black monitor.
But OK - I’ll try it.

But you said you installed it once already?!

Let us know what happens with the media check.

Now I tried it with the same result - the black monitor.
:frowning:

So what are you doing different now. If you managed to install 11.1 already.

Try booting with the dvd in and at the same time press and hold shift key, see if it will boot in text mode.

No diff. - i managed to install and THEN i can’t reboot installed 11.1:(
The shift key comes to the text mode with follow. results:
rescue -> SMP motherboard not detected
linux -> AppArmor: AppArmor Filesystem Enabl.
harddisk}
noacpi } -> Could not find kernel image
nolapic }
failsafe}

Try this.
NOT with the dvd.

Just boot the machine. When the menu appears. Pause it by moving the down arrow on your keyboard. Now move the selector to the default boot in the menu.
Now using you keyboard type the following:
**noapic acpi=off

**That text should appear lower down. When done, hit enter

what happens now?

Thanks, caf4926!

My default boot is windows( i made it during Installation)
So, now i tried boot
openSUSE11.1…
with Boot Options: noapic=off
Rebooting hangs with
“Unpacking initramfs…”

So is it booting to windows?
