OpenSuSE 11.1 -- GUI issues (works but fails)

I installed Gnome on OpenSuSE 11.1 last night, and while the GUI opens,
I cannot open Yast2. It runs according to ps aux, but nothing there.
When I ssh -X into the box, and try to forward X through ssh, yast2 just
opens the menu-based yast. Something screwy going on with the GUI and I
don’t know why.

Please help.

So far, it only appears to be an issue with YaST.

Never mind, I think I know the root of the issue. I forgot that last
night, during the install, I never was prompted for the 2nd half of the
install (network, hardware, and so on). I bet if I can get that part of
the install to work my other issues will resolve themselves.

That sounds like you don’t have the GUI version of Yast2 installed.

Did you install the Yast System Administration pattern when you
installed?
