I have downloaded the DVD and both live CDs. The only disk that will boot on start up is the Gnome Live CD. I have an Acer Aspire 5002 laptop and I have used suse since 9.2 on this machine. Gnome boots but the graphics are not right. I tried the installer from windows but no graphics at all.
Is anyone else having this problem. I checked the md5 checksum before burning and all were good, I used Sony discs as well, any Ideas?
You will presumeably have trued F3 and select ‘vesa’?
Or
If the graphical boot menu doesn’t show or freezes, try press and hold Shift on the keyboard when booting the installation media. This starts the text-mode boot menu instead.
That is - when you boot, select Installation and then press the F3 key on your keyboard. It will bing up options in a box, try ‘vesa’, select it and press enter.
I was too fast… This only helped me for initial bootup from installation DVD but after loading images etc this still turned to graphics mode and so I’m still not able to proceed with installation. Any more hints how I could keep using text mode after boot up during installation as well?
