Try adding this to the Boot Options on the DVD menu:

insmod=i2o_scsi

That is the letter “o”, not a zero.

where /how do you mean exactly?

when I start from the dvd, on the first page where it says:

boot from hard disk
installation

do you mean there? don’t see or can’t write in that

sorry I have found the boot menu in text mod, and when I put in

insmod:i2o_scsi

it says cloud not find kernal image: insmod:i2o_scsi

No. On the same screen as you see “Boot from Hard Disk” and “Installation” and other lines, down below there is a line called “Boot Options” that you can type into. Highlight “Installation”, then type the above into “Boot Options”, then hit Enter.

And what OS do you have running on your machine now?

right now I don’t have any os on the server, and I have never used linux before, about the boot optios you talking about it is on earlier version, now I use the newst released 25-dec , 11.1 it’s different you know

and one of my 3disk is dameged I think, while I was formatting it from adaptec menu, by misstake I pulled out the power :frowning: , I tried with windows disk I could see just 2 disks :frowning:
I will try and format it agin from adaptec menu and hope it solves my problem

The “Boot Options” is standard on the DVD menu; there is no difference in 11.1. This is simply a way to add more kernel arguments for the kernel to use when it boots.

If a disk is damaged, of course that will prevent installation. However, if before you were able to start the installation process and got the error at the disk step, then that most likely means that the kernel module (that is, the driver) for your adaptec device was not loaded. I googled to find the module, but that was difficult because it seems that your device is rather old and the module has been changed. The most likely choice I could find was i2o_scsi. The command:

insmod=i2o_scsi

will tell the kernel to load that module. Please note that in your post back you typed the command wrong - that is an = sign, not a : (colon).

about the boot option, trust me I tried with version 10 and 11, on 10 I can see the boot option, but not on 11.1 :frowning:
on 11.1 when I press ESC i get black screen and it says boot:

and there I have put the:

insmod=i2o_scsi

and yes I used = and not :
but not working :frowning:

just to know, that I have tested boot with ubuntu disk, and it could find my disks if it’s somthing for help

about the boot option, trust me I tried with version 10 and 11, on 10 I can see the boot option, but not on 11.1 :frowning:

I don’t know what to say. I am looking at the 11.1 DVD menu screen in front of me. When the “Installation” line is highlighted, the Boot Options appear down below on the screen, just a little bit above the F-key labels.

when I press ESC i get black screen and it says boot: and there I have put the . . .

This will not work. It needs to be in the Boot Options.

I’m at work know, will be at home in 30min and take a picture of the screen and post it
maybe somthing wrong but don’t know what, because I see that line just with older version like 10.4

I can’t get picture of the screen, but soon I will get crazy, it’s just my first day with linux :frowning:

Strange that it works with ubuntu without problems :S. I hope I can get more help, otherwise maybe I have to sell this server and buy new one

I found the problem, it’s my graphic card, old one, the resolution is 640x480 I think, I will sell the server and buy new one
