Just got Beta3 installed yesterday, and played around with it a bit. Including installing some extra apps and removing some stuff I will never use…but that’s part of the game of any distro and user…
Anyway, this morning there were a couple of updates waiting (including libzypp) and now I can not use yast to install new software. It is still possible to do it using the commandline though, but wondered if someone else got bitten by this and know if there is a workaround until it is fixed again (yes, I know breakage is expected during a beta-circle so it’s not a complaint really).
Go back to Yast
if you can remember what the updates were, highlight that rpm (say zypper) in the right window; in the box on the bottom right, click the “versions” tab; then tick the original rpm version (as I recall it will say from DVD, etc.).
accept – and you should be back in business.
I wouldn’t use the “update” repo without looking at the rpm dates 1st – they are like from 1st of the month. Use the oss repo & you should be fine.
I tried that even before I started the thread, unfortunately. It didn’t work though, since Yast doesn’t let me do anything in the install software module. As soon as I do anything (say search or changing the filter) yast just quits. I assume it’s a crash but I can’t find any details anywhere as of what went wrong.
Still, I managed to downgrade libzypp using the commandline but apparently what I thought was the culprit was not. Oh well. Not a big deal. I can use the commandline for the time being - I was planning to do a clean install once 11.1 goes final anyway.
