openSUSE 11.1 Alpha3 and status

[opensuse-factory] openSUSE 11.1 Alpha3 and status](http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-factory/2008-09/msg00066.html)

The status of the distribution is short this time: last week was hackweek ->
not much progress. We still have too many failing packages.

Amen to that!

As soon as I’m back in Nuremberg next week, I’ll push for a test build
Alpha3plus.

And I for one will be looking for it:)

I don’t see alpha3 in the roadmap
Roadmap - openSUSE

since I happy with alpha2 ,I will wait until beta 4 to give another try ;).

Click on the detail link:
Roadmap/11.1 - openSUSE

The most important dates of the currently planned schedule are:

  • Thu, Aug 21: openSUSE 11.1 Alpha2
  • Thu, Sep 04: openSUSE 11.1 Alpha3
  • Thu, Sep 18: openSUSE 11.1 Beta1 - snapshot release
  • Thu, Oct 02: openSUSE 11.1 Beta2 - snapshot release
  • Thu, Oct 16: openSUSE 11.1 Beta3 - snapshot release
  • Thu, Oct 30: openSUSE 11.1 Beta4 - snapshot release
  • Thu, Nov 13: openSUSE 11.1 RC1 - snapshot release

  • Thu, Dec 4: openSUSE 11.1 GM - final release (internal)
  • Thu, Dec 18: openSUSE 11.1 public release

Plus, factory should be close to:
Fri, Sep, 5 Component freeze for beta1, crypto freeze

* Milestone: We have settled for a KDE branch to go for
* Milestone: Feature and version freeze for the base system
* Milestone: Kernel and install works on most targeted machines.
* Milestone: Packages containing cryptographic routines are frozen (ECR)
* Preliminary Authoring Deadline for localized doc files (ADL loc prelim)

xorg 7.4 is supposed to be released tomorrow:
X.Org Wiki - Releases/7.4
Anyone know when will be included in openSUSE? Alpha 3 or later?
Thanks

My guess is that it depends on how ATI & nVidia turns out the drivers; Distrowatch shows 7.3, but that could change very rapidly depending on how the drivers come along.

xorg 7.4 is in factory now! My anxiety for openSUSE 11.1 is growing…

Alpha3 was not delayed, it was cancelled since it was uninstallable.

Finally found something in writing that confirms what I’ve been experiencing lately with Factory network install. Hope the Devs find a fix soon.

Beta 1 is next according to the roadmap.

Here is the most up to date status I found on the Factory ML from yesterday:
