OpenSUSE 11.0 & softmodem

Hi all,

Is there any reason ‘smartlink-softmodem’ package is no more present in os11.0 while it was there at least for os10.3 and os10.2?..

Was it replaced by something else?

It’s on the 32-bit DVD and presumably also in the non-OSS repo.

$ isoinfo -i openSUSE-11.0-DVD-i386.iso -l -R | grep smartlink
-r--r--r--   5    0    0          422472 Jun  8 2008  969973 00]  smartlink-softmodem-2.9.10-203.1.i586.rpm

probably it’s included within DVD, but it’s missed in the repo (I suppose: Index of /distribution/11.0/repo/non-oss/suse/i586)

Any chances to fix it?..

No idea, I don’t have a softmodem. Maybe it’s not in non-OSS? Or maybe you are running 64-bit and it doesn’t show i586 packages.

Same question, I can’t find smartlink-softmodem anywhere on either the DVD or the non-oss CD.

When trying to configure my modem threw Yast Suse want’s to install the package but can’t seem to find it anywhere.

Please forgive any ignorance on my part, I’m green when it comes to Linux.

Where is SmartLink-SoftModem for SuSe Linux 11.2?

They need to put it back in the 11.2 distro…

… there are still a lot of people who use dial-up…

… or the least they could do is put a link to it for 11.2.
