Hi. I’m running opensuse 11.0. After shutting down yesterday and booting up today, something must have broken. Normally when I boot up I get the opensuse GRUB boot menu with opensuse 11.0 (default, GRUB installed on root), opensuse Failsafe, and Windows XP.
Now I just get “GRUB _”. Is there a way to boot using the install media and reconfigure GRUB there via the GUI? I have a feeling something may have gotten corrupted.
Solved. Just had to reinstall GRUB via the install disc. Easy. Now I need to figure out how to have it show me the opensuse green graphic on boot rather than the scrolling boot text.
I think:
yast, system, boot loader, select the entry you want the splash screen for, select edit and at optional kernel commandline paramters add splash=silent
I removed that as I like the text
Actually that is how mine is set, but includes “showopts” after it.
