If you have a nvidia graphics card like me; you end up with a garbled screen and a pink box for a cursor. You can boot to a command line and use sax2-vesa to set up the display. Booting runlevel 3 will not allow you to login. You must use runlevel 4 and login as root.
I hope someone finds this helpful.

You do know that 10.3 is way way out of date and has no support. Current ver is 12.1
This advice may have been relevant 3 or 4 years ago, but sax2 was dropped a few versions back, and I doubt there are many who would still be trying 10.3 (which is well past EOL now anyway).
I’m using 12.1 now. I had a 10.3 live cd and I wanted to see what it looked like. There might be others who feel the same. It’s frustrating to download and burn a live cd and end up with a coaster.
Thing is that since 10.3 is out of date it may not support newer hardware. Try it in a VM.
