I am having a problem with openSUSE 10.3, the system annoyingly freezes every now and then whilst the wireless device is turned on. My wireless card is Intel PRO 3945ABG, my laptop is Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro v3405. I have installed the latest drivers and mac80211 subsystem.
I have had problems turning the wireless on in the first place until I was able to compile the fsam7400 module. It turns the wireless on but I can’t turn it off using the command
echo 0 > /proc/driver/wireless/radio (run by root)
Could you please suggest any solutions for the freezing thing and turning the wireless device off?
I had issue with ndiswrapper module every time I "modprob"ed computer stoped responding to any click on the screen.
What I did was modify /etc/inittab so computer starts in runlevel 3.
And wrote a few line script to do modprobe etc and at the end gdm.
So inserting modole in runlevel 3(no graphics) resolved issue for me.
I will try that. But just to clarify, my system doesn’t stop responding entirely. It stops responding for a second or two and after a short while (in seconds), depending on the wireless activity, it stops responding for another second or two, and so on. Also, the system doesn’t only stop responding to clicks but to everything, including other programmes (other than the wireless backing programmes) running.
