hi,opensuse 10.2 cannot create full munber directory.need help!thank you!
What do you mean by “full mumber directory”?
10.2 is too old. Are you sure it is 10.2?
yes .it is opensuse 10.2. any type of directory can create ,such us ./1111 or the others. but full munber directory cannot create,I have upgrade the system before!
it show the error massage:mkdir cannot create directory “11111”:no such file or directory
> it show the error massage:mkdir cannot create directory “11111”:no such
> file or directory
first, openSUSE 10.2 is no longer supported…maybe you are using SUSE
Linux Enterprise Server or Desktop SP2, in which case you should
second, you have posted to a forum which is used to ask questions
about the forums themselves, not to ask technical questions about the
operating system, or to get help…
however, i have no idea why you can’t do this:
mkdir /[full path]/11111
perhaps your system has become damaged? or you have other problems? if
so, and if you are not using SUSE Linux Enterprise Server or Desktop
SP2, post again with your other problems to
Are you trying to create /path/1111 ?? That’s not possible. The “*” is a wildcard for any character. You should be able to create /path/1111

as neither he nor i wrote 1111 i don’t understand why you would…
Oops, you’re right. I should have seen the difference between the quotes and the asterisks…didn’t though. And my new glasses are so good, I have Opera on 80% zoom without noticing…tsk, tsk, and there’s the cause, the quotes melt together, looking like an asterisk…;). I feel stupid, apologies.
Still don’t understand what he does that causes refusal of directory creation.
> I feel stupid, apologies.
don’t! glasses i understand…otherwise i really couldn’t understand
why you wrote that…
> Still don’t understand what he does that causes refusal of directory
a total mystery to me also…i think he was probably doing something
wrong, and figured that out…oh well…maybe we hear from him again,
