first, openSUSE 10.2 is no longer supported…maybe you are using SUSE
Linux Enterprise Server or Desktop SP2, in which case you should
contact forums.novell.com
second, you have posted to a forum which is used to ask questions
about the forums themselves, not to ask technical questions about the
operating system, or to get help…
however, i have no idea why you can’t do this:
mkdir /[full path]/11111
perhaps your system has become damaged? or you have other problems? if
so, and if you are not using SUSE Linux Enterprise Server or Desktop
SP2, post again with your other problems to
http://forums.opensuse.org/applications/

Are you trying to create /path/1111 ?? That’s not possible. The “*” is a wildcard for any character. You should be able to create /path/1111

Oops, you’re right. I should have seen the difference between the quotes and the asterisks…didn’t though. And my new glasses are so good, I have Opera on 80% zoom without noticing…tsk, tsk, and there’s the cause, the quotes melt together, looking like an asterisk…;). I feel stupid, apologies.
Still don’t understand what he does that causes refusal of directory creation.
