OpenOffice.org .odp in MS Office?

How can I open an OpenOffice.org (2.?) file in MS Office (2007)?

While I use Linux at home, here at work I use MS Office 2007 and
received an .odp file (supposed to be an Impress file) form somebody I’m
working with on a Linux presentation.

Is there a plug-in or something which would allow me to open this file
in Office without having to install OpenOffice.org? I haven’t found one
in the Microsoft site.

If I am able to open/edit/save the file and maintain the .odp format
that would be great!

As I understand it, it’s coming in the 2009 service pack for Office
2007.

In the meantime, download OO for Windows and use that to convert the
file to a format MS Office can read.

Yup! That works!

  • The ODF Plugin seamlessly integrates with the Load and Save As
    > dialog and the Save (Ctrl+S) shortcut of Microsoft Office Word.
  • A new toolbar in Microsoft Office Excel and Microsoft Office
    > PowerPoint simplifies the import and export of ODF documents.
  • Make the ISO standardized OpenDocument file format the standard
    > in your company, and switch the standard file format in Microsoft
    > Office Word to ODF.
  • The ODF Plugin is available in English, German, French, Italian,
    > Spanish, Swedish, Brazilian Portuguese, Hungarian, Russian, Polish,
    > Iberian Portuguese, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional
    > Chinese, Korean and Dutch.

Well they will be obliged to put it in their new Office I think.
OpenOffice uses the standard format so every OS should support it. (and
will)

2009 I believe will be the year with the update… But with m$ you
never know

I hope Microsoft would include it even if they have the focus
(agreement) for interoperability with Novell.
