OpenOffice only english ->solved but I don't know why!

Hi all!

I am new to OpenSuse, and I could need your help.
I have installed OpenSuse 11 RC two days before the release. I’ ve updated OSuse everyday. I never had any problems…until yesterday. I made an “zypper dup” like I did before, and my OpenOffice (and other progr) had been updated. BUT: The German O.o. package seems not to be “updatable” because now O.o is English. Seems like the German translation is older then the O.o-“main” package and therefore not compatible-

Update: In order to give you all necessary information, I started Yast to post the output of that dependency problem…but tata now the german translation is available.

Good…BUT: I still do not know why that happened. Does that mean that some repo and packages are updated before others? Like in my situation? Maybe I do have a wrong repo- in my list, take a look at it:

Is this repo-list ok? Or should I delete some repos? Do I have some premature -like testing- repos enabled?
Any explanations are welcomed.

Yours, S.

For OpenOffice I just keep what comes down from the official update repro.

I never use the Index of /repositories/OpenOffice.org:/STABLE/openSUSE_11.0

…but that is just personal preference and I tend to be on the safe side so there is less chance for something to break in OOo.
Things I do with OpenOffice work & I don’t need the latest updates.

That also goes for the other repositories, I try to keep the list as close to the original ones, with packman included.

No science behind it just that it’s worked for me so far

Cheers,
Wj

Thanks for your reply.

So if I understand you right

http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/OpenOffice.org:/STABLE/openSUSE_11.0/

is an “openSUSE BuildService”-repo? Meaning a development repo, that could possibly harm my system?

S.

Correct!
Although it is marked as stable the possibility an update coming through this channel can brake your setup is greater than when only keeping the default repositories. Harm is a great word though…

I’m not a heavy user of these repositories so can only vent what I’ve seen others report about this
