Hi all.
Moving any objects (text box, pictures) in a slide is extremely slow. Is anyone also experiencing this? Thanks in advance.

I have no issues with Impress on my machine. Give us some more info: are you running KDE or Gnome? What graphics card do you have? Did you install a proprietary graphics driver? What are the specs of the machine (RAM, CPU, etc.).
Here’s the spec:
AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ / 2GB memory / GeForce 7050 PV / nForce 630a running NVIDIA 256.35 driver
Both KDE 4.4.4 and Gnome 2.30 installed (stock 11.3, 32bit)
In both KDE and Gnome, it has same slow behavior when moving a text box.
Thanks
Woojin
Those specs should be fine. Sorry - I can’t reproduce your problem at all. One difference is that I’m running 64bit.
i have the same issue on 11.2
Hi,
I also had this problem with older OpenOffice versions. In my case, I was able to overcome this problem by deactivating “antialising” in the options menu of OpenOffice.
Best wishes
Michael
Thanks Michael!!! Turning off “antialising” in the options fixed it! Now, it’s much faster.

Speaking of moving text boxes, has anyone encountered the following annoyance? You move the mouse over a text box, you get the little squares that invite changing the size and aspect ratio and the hashed border; but you want to move the whole box so you position the cursor over the hashed border and hold down the left mouse button preparing to move… and you instantly lose the hashed border and you can’t accomplish the move. After about 30 minutes of diddling and finding the Help to be no help, I am stumped… I think I’ve tried everything. Same problem on both my OpenSUSE machines (32-bit, 64-bit; running Gnome)… Thanks, jdw

I’m trying to understand this… my best bet is that you sorta created a
text box, but you didn’t type anything into it? Then of course it does
disappear when you try to move it (it’s effectively deleted). Try typing
some text into it and then move it… that seemed to work fine for me.
