Hi this is going to be short.
On my Yast software manager, the openoffice 3.0 upgrade has been made available recently. at present i am still using 2.4
however, when i queue the package openoffice.org, “kdelibs3” (KDE base libraries) and “kdelibs3-default-style” get included as dependencies.
now i am using Gnome. i haven’t even enabled the Opensuse KDE repositories. i do not want to have anything to do with KDE.i hate KDE.
my question is why is it happening? is there no way to install openoffice 3.0 on the gnome desktop, without these dependencies, or breaking my system in some way, otherwise?
very true. but i do not want to wait till the opensuse 11.1 for this. on the other hand, i cannot risk even a little bit of instablity on my computer. right now i have a lot of important work on it. so what should i do?
Package OpenOffice_org-3.0.0.3.5-1.1 includes the file /usr/lib64/ooo3/program/kdefilepicker. It’s the one that has kde dependencies.
webpin says kdefilepicker in OpenOffice.org 2.4.0.14 was available in package OpenOffice_org-kde instead of OpenOffice_org, so I suppose it would be safe to also move the file in OpenOffice_org 3.0.0.3.5.
You could have opened a bug report at https://bugzilla.novell.com and a Novell developer would have said you the same. Now that you understand the problem… open a bug report with this information and a Novell developer, probably Petr Mladek, will fix it.
Don’t be afraid of opening bug reports. Even if you don’t understand the exact problem… a no KDE related app having a KDE dependency is a bug. It’s so obvious that it’s out of question. So REPORT IT.
