OpenJazz

Jut installed OpenJazz, but can’t find it anywhere. The Install/Remove Software says that it’s there though so what am I doing wrong?

Try running it from the terminal (Konsole on KDE)

i do not believe it is a game which you can just install and easily
use…for example i see:

“To play, you will need the files from one of the original games.”

and, http://sourceforge.net/projects/openjazz/support

but, i do not (quickly) find a step by step of how you meld “the files
from one of the original games.” with the software you installed on
your Linux box…

by the way, the install here did not do any of the normally expected
things:

  • it did not install a manual (man openjazz at the CLI failed)
  • it did not install any documentation (in /usr/share/doc/*)
  • it did not add an icon to the system’s menu
  • and, typing “openjazz --help” at a command line resulted in no help
    and only errors

it appears to me that the person who packaged it for the /games repo
didn’t have a clue!

i am now uninstalling it, and suggest you do the same–or, scrounge
around the net until you figure out how to use it…then, come back
here and fill in the how-to, for those that wander in via google/et al…
