Openh264 repo outdated (even on tumblweed)

It’s been a month since openh264 updated to 2.5

This one supposedly corrects many things with .mp4 videos.

But opensuse still at 2.3 from May.

Tumbleweed was supposed to give the latest updates. But they’re the same as Leap!

Yes, updates is still a manual process.

On build.opensuse.org you can find:

I see there is already a private 2.4.1 package:

So what is missing is the staging/release process.

Woah. We don’t have any other simple way to update?

You can use Packman Repo and disable the openSUSE h264 Repo…

I thought the openh264 repo was a step in the right direction, but no … one step forward, two steps backward to packman

You can use the .rpm’s build in somebody’s private package, not that that always works.

The better solution is off coarse to do get an actual update done. I did read something about it the release process yesterday as there was a question on “Ring 0” but it is not yet clear to me.

It looks to me the best route would be that this openh264 package is part of some Devel Project I could find the list of projects, but do not know how to check if openh264 is part of any project.

@Pharaoh_Atem any thoughts on getting this updated?

@marel AFAIK due to licensing/distribution this is similar to the Nvidia repository…

Yeah, I’ll get to it. I just didn’t notice a new version was made.

But to use H.264 acceleration with Mesa we need Mesa-libva from Packman.
Where are improvements?

We welcome Pharaoh_Atem in our community!

Basically 2 years without updates then.
