Open SuSE 13.1 1644 updates available

Brand new 13.1 installation into VMware Workstation 9 environment.
After the initial dozen patches and a 2 day delay there are now 1644 patches to be installed!
Is is a glitch or are there really this many updates?

Geoff Johnson

I didn’t have all those patches to install …

Post your repo list

Yeah. Most likely you have added the Factory repo to your system. You should remove that!
And please only click on 1-click installs that are intended for your openSUSE version. (clicking on one for Factory is the most likely reason why the Factory repo would be added to your system IMHO  )

There are not that many packages in the update repo.
1644 updates sounds more like a distribution upgrade…

That is your problem. Why did you add that repo? Remove it ASAP.

Sorry been years since I contributed to one of these!
That was the problem, removed it and now down to 11 updates.

There was some software I wanted that was only in the factory.

Thanks to all

YaST’s 1-click installer does show you which repos it wants to add and asks for confirmation.
The next time when you install a Factory package via 1-click you should deselect the Factory repo there…
