Open port on localhost but not remotely

Hi,
I have a problem with one of my new OpenSuse installation.
I install ntop on this machine so the port 3000 become open, but when i want to use it on a other pc, it cannot see the open port. I really don’t understand why i cannot access this port.

I disabled firewall to make sure everything pass.

here my ntop on my localhost

Starting Nmap 5.00 ( Nmap - Free Security Scanner For Network Exploration & Security Audits. ) at 2010-04-15 09:23 EDT
Interesting ports on localhost (127.0.0.1):
Not shown: 994 closed ports
PORT STATE SERVICE
25/tcp open smtp
111/tcp open rpcbind
139/tcp open netbios-ssn
445/tcp open microsoft-ds
631/tcp open ipp
3000/tcp open ppp

Nmap done: 1 IP address (1 host up) scanned in 0.07 seconds

here my ntop from another host

Starting Nmap 5.00 ( Nmap - Free Security Scanner For Network Exploration & Security Audits. ) at 2010-04-15 09:25 EDT
Interesting ports on 192.168.0.169:

445/tcp open microsoft-ds

Anyone have a idea of the problem ?

I forgot to say that when I do a -p 3000
It say to me that the state of the port is closed

Just a wild guess, is the ntop http server maybe set-up to listen **only **for the localhost IP and **not **on the host/LAN IP, i.e. you have in your ntop config file something like:

-w 127.0.0.1:3000
# Listens only on the loopback interface at port 3000

Of course this is a good security measure (might be the default in the ntop.conf) but it might not suit your needs.

The manpage is here.

Cheers
