Open files in the same Kate instance from file manager

I use OpenSuse 11.1 with KDE4.2 updated daily from KDE4 Factory repo.

Since early winter when I started to use Suse 11 with KDE4.1 I had a problem: there were no ability to open few files in the same Kate instance from Dolphin or Krusader and so on (by Open with or by clicking on the file in case I have filetype connected with Kate in system settings).

The only way for me is to drag and drop files from file manager to Kate.

As I can remember with KDE4.2Beta there was an workaround: setting “X-DBUS-StartupType=None” or “Unique”… cannot recall exactly.
All was OK except error message from DBus when Kate was closed.

Now I cannot get success playing with these parameters.
And it’s so pity. I use Kate very often.

So, does anybody experience this kind of probs or is there any solution?

I am using the stable KDE4.2 version and Kate is working as normal.

I’ve found the same problem discussed in KDE forum. But they also have no resolution.

Go to “System Settings” → “Advanced” → “File Associations” → select a file type you open with Kate → on the right hand side select Kate → “Edit” → “Application” → command should say ‘kate %U’ so change it to ‘kate -u %U’ which tells it to re-use any already open windows.

Thanks for your suggestion, but it should be typed with small “%u”. In this case only I have no errors and Kate runs properly.
