I did an online update from a fully updated 42.3 system online to 15.0. I disabled all 3rd party repos and pointed the 4 OSS and Non-OSS repos to leap 15.0. Updated per zypper commands. Update seems to have gone fine. About 4000 files were changed.
I disabled the nvidia repo from the update as it was a 3rd party repo.
Up completion of the update the system stops after text scoll saying “failed to start setup of virtual console”. There is a new grub screen and dual boot works fine. Leap 15.0 selection in grub gives 4 options to 2 different kernels including a recovery option. I can’t get any option to give graphics and a login screen. Persistent message is “oh, no – something has gone wrong, logout/relogin, etc …” and can’t a login to anything. Just keeps recycling.
By using the installation dvd disk in rescue mode, I can get onto the harddrive and get yast started in text mode but I don’t know what to look for or what to change. Everything I looked at regarding desktop and displays looks as it did before update.
System is dual boot, windows 10 and leap 15
graphics card nvidia gtx 1050 ti ( was working fine in 42.3 )
mate was the active desktop but gnome was also installed
Need some advice on how to proceed to regain graphics and login screen. Again, nvidia repo was disabled prior to the update.
