Online update not working after 11.2 package updates.

Hi,
Since applying a number of updates using the online update tool in Yast, the online update tool can no longer contact the software repositories which were configured in Yast.

If i browse to the URL which is configured within the software repo config tool, I can see the updates & folders fine in Firefox.

Zypper seems to do the same thing & just sits there if I do zypper update.

I see a number of other people in this forum have had the same problems, any ideas as I couldn’t find a resolution?:’(

I didn’t follow any of the posts you mentioned on this problem, but did you check to see if some other process has locked the RPM database? In that case, everything will wait or sometimes, if you’re lucky, time-out.

Here’s what you could try to do: reboot your machine into runlevel 3 by typing in “3” on the boot option you see when you normally boot your system.
Then login as yourself (resist the temptation to log in as root), use “su” to become root and then type “yast2” on the command line to open the really fast & cool command-line version of YAST2.
In YAST2, locate the Online Update module (use the tab and cursor keys to move around, your mouse won’t work).

If Online Update works fine from this runlevel 3, either your NetworkManager isn’t working, or the online update applet/widget is locking out the RPM repository.

If Online Update does NOT work from runlevel 3, you have big problems. Maybe your repository setup is messed up somehow? Post the output of the following command back here:

zypper lr -u
