I have installed SuSE11.0 from CD at work. When trying to do an online update I get the error message cannot connect to server(curl). I have entered exactly the same settings in YAST proxy (IP address, port, username, password) which enable me to use the internet with Firefox. However when I use the test button I get a failure message. So I cannot do any online update or install additional packages because I cannot connect to the server. I tried entering other repositories with the same result. Everything works OK on my computer at home where I don’t have to go through a proxy. I presume something is wrong with the curl authentication. Any help is appreciated.

Did you have configure you,re online update ?
As I cannot connect to the server I cannot do much of the you configuration (like the adding of repositories - it does not go through). In the meantime I can ping or traceroute to the servers but get a timeout exceeded message when I try the online update.

The problem is solved and working now. I don’t know the reason. The only change is that I used a static IP and a different hostname. Previously I used the same as the windows partiton. May have caused some problems with the windows server …
